As soon as I heard that Jimmy Kimmel had become president of Dildo, I couldn’t help but laugh. I mean, what a way to top off his career! He had been a regular show host on popular ABC news networks since the early 90s, and had done his fair share of acting as well. But I never expected to see the stand-up comedian assume control of one of the smallest cities in the Newfoundland peninsula.

I knew Jimmy Kimmel was a real character and had quite a sense of humour, but I never expected to see him don the mayoral hat of such a small community. Given his popularity, fame and TV show, it’s no surprise that the citizens of Dildo took quite well to him and welcomed him with open arms. Although I wasn’t familiar with the new mayor, I had done some research on what he had accomplished. From fundraising and developing local infrastructure to his involvement with local charities and events, he had already made a positive impact on the city.
